Fire!!!!!

Well... Hi there! I have a big story to tell you.  I am now rehearsing the Little Mermaid for the December show. Today is our school and Girl Guides show and tomorrow are our public shows.  Yesterday, when I finished rehearsing my scene at Centrepointe Theater, I went into the Auditorium to watch while I waited for Daddy who is working on the set behind the scenes. There is a scene in the swamp when Ariel gets her legs. They use a smoke machine to look like mist and they had FORGOTTEN TO TELL THE FIREFIGHTERS that we where using smoke so if the smoke alarm happened don't come.  Well, red lights started flashing and the noise of Whee Hoo Whee Hoo blasted. Miss Eva came running and grabbed my hand and another girl's hand that was beside me and we ran outside through back doors and emergency exits. Some girls were in ballet shoes and point shoes and lots were in their costumes. Costumes and ballet shoes are NOT supposed to go outside - for one costumes are not warm...

Good,and Bad news

Image
Hello, I am back after a long busy month or two of just plain catching up!!! Horseback riding is what I am going to do first. I have some bad news and good. Which one do you want first? I guess I will do bad first and good last. The bad news is that Tequila is lame. She has a swollen leg that is really hurting her and so I have not been riding her for about 3 whole weeks. This is what happened when we found out that she had a swollen leg. I was warming up Tequila and started trotting and she was limping so I pulled her into a walk and she stopped limping. My coach said to trot her in a small circle. I did so and I could hardly stay on her for her limping. It was terrible. My coach said to get off and get Ellie Mae because Tequila was not in well enough condition to get ridden. The good news is that I passed a dressage test on Ellie Mae. It was quite simple but since Ellie is so wiggly I had to work super hard. The test is seeing whether I can remember where the letters in the ring...

The Carp Fair

Image
Wow that was a lovely weekend perfect for the ...  Carp Fair!!! 1. AJ`s Catering is part of our tradition but this year we thought it would not work out for us to go because our Saturday was so busy with other things. However, instead of going on Saturday we went on Friday (I thought it was even better because we had turkey) (On Saturdays they serve roast beef). They are all very good though!!  2. My favorite ride this year was the big Ferris wheel. I don`t really know why but it was!! Especially on Saturday because we were told it was busier and therefore they had it going way faster to move the line along. My favorite adventurous ride was the Ali Baba because I am not bothered by heights and it goes very high!  3. The Superdogs  are almost a part of the fair now. I love them. For those who have not heard about it before you might want to search it on the website because it is a sight worth seeing. All the dogs are home pets that the owners have trained themse...

Happy "New Year"!!!

Hello, Have you ever wondered why is New Year after Christmas why is it not in September. People say it`s the new year. WEIRD. I have started school and am content with the schedule. These are a few of the things I really like and things that are new. #1.  OYOA ( Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy)! Well I had one of the best auditions ever and on top of that I am 1st clarinet in at least 4 pieces so far! So that is really nice. #2. Literature. I would never have guessed that plays and theater was so interesting. Did you know that there were 9 parts to a stage? Did you know you always need a director or people will be a jumble like a word search. Well I really like it. We have learned  3 plays so far: Mr. Knee High Man  Pretty as a Pigeon and the one we are working on now is Winnie the Pooh meets Tigger. #3. Understanding Writing. It is about learning the structure of a sentence and a lot more but mostly that. We also play games with it and it is a lot of fun. Things...

Toronto Photos Part Two

Image
This is my thrid blog about Toronto. Can you tell I had fun! If you are just tuning in now, make sure you go back and look at the other two! The Ripley's Aquarium! This was so much fun. Daddy got in free as Mom's attendant because Mom has a CNIB card, and he bought the tickets online so we didn't have to wait in line. Yay, because it was a very long line!   This was the entrance to the magic carpet (moving sidewalk) part of the Aquarium! It was so much fun and lasted about 20 -  30 minutes. Here we are in the tunnel. Lots of people, but we dind't have to move around anyone as we were all moving along at the same time. Fish, sharks, stingrays, sawfish, all around us. You could walk it too, but most people chose the magic carpet. That way you could just stand still and look around and still be moving! This is an electric ell!  I think it looks like a very long stuffed sock! It also looks like it has tusks but it doesn't. I don't know what they are...

Toronto Photos Part One

Medieval Times! A long walk to get there but very fun! This is me with the Red Knight that we cheered for!     Six knight, six horses, six cheering sections. Lots of noise! Lots more horses during the show, but these were the main event. Me cheering loudly - with my red flower the knight threw to me! Dinner and the tournament!   Making Waves Boatel Bed and Breakfast - I want to go back! This is the boat we stayed on for the four days as seen form the CN Tower. I climbed up and down the ladder to get to the top deck.   This sweet dog is Apollo! He visited every morning  and I got to give him a treat! The owner was good friends with the owners of the boat. One surprise was the swans that came to the boat that I got to feed! Breakfast on the back deck of the boat - waffles, blueberry French toast, fruit, mango pomegranate juice... Yum! The CN Towe...

Toronto there and back

Image
Hello, As some of you know we (Mom, Dad, and I) just went to Toronto. Where we stayed was called a Boatel - a hotel on a boat! We were in walking distance of the CN tower and the Aquarium and the CNE grounds. Unfortunately we were not there when the real CNE was on but we did go to The Medeval Times. We were the red color and our knight came in 2nd place in the tournaments. With every game our knight won he got 3 flowers and he threw them to the audience in his section. and I caught one! For the rest of the night I was waving my flower because it was red and our knight was red! The Aquarium was a real hit. I think it was my favorite. My favorite part was the Dangerous Lagoon.  You got to ride on this magic carpet moving sidewalk and there were sharks and sting rays and sawfish swimming right over your head. It was the most exiting and then there was of course the jellyfish and the ray bay also. The CN tower was also a lot of fun. We ate there once for dinner and once for lu...

The songs we played for concert were I`m A Believer,The March of the Irish Guard, and last but not least Pirates of the Caribbean! I`m a Believer and Pirates of the Caribbean were my favorite. In March of the Irish Guard the clarinets had a 8 bar rest and the trumpets were doing this really weird rhythm while we where trying to count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and I said that I never could because of them!! Wind 1 was a lot of fun too. Since I was the only clarinet in the group I got  to play first clarinet. That was a lot of fun. I even got a solo once!!! Chamber mix was the best after Band! We had 2 violins...

Cottage Life - My Story

Image
Hello, I like the cottage because there is so much to do like feed the chipmunk, going swimming, playing tons of games, going to the Thai restaurant,  going to Kawartha Dairy, feeding the ducks, going to the dump, walking the boardwalk, breakfast at the Millpond, and coloring with Grandma at 7:30 a.m. Feeding the Chipmunk has been a tradition since I can remember. live Some of the chipmunks come right up onto our laps. My sister used to have a top that had a pocket. She'd put the peanut right into the pocket, and the chipmunk would come right up onto her top and take the peanut out of her pocket! It was neat. This year we have a red squirrel coming all the time so Grandma and Grandpa are trying to trap him and move him somewhere else. Instead, most of the time they are catching our chipmunks and having to keep releasing him! Going Swimming - I sometimes say that "cottage" means that there needs to be water. This is where I learned how to swim under w...

Weekend, Horse, Spanish

Image
Hi, It has been a fun week.   It has been really nice down here all weekend. I was on my trampoline a lot with a friend playing water balloons and sprinkler. We got into bathing suits, filled up balloons with water and jumped until they popped. It takes longer than you'd think! Then we put the sprinkler right onto the trampoline with us and got soaked.. It was so much fun. Did you have a good 3 days? Yesterday I went horseback riding with Tequila again. We went strait outside and did a bunch of poles. Then, we came inside and did cantering which is new to me. It is a lot of fun and Tequila gets fast when she knows we are going to do cantering because she likes it so much. I worked her very hard so she was sweating when we finished so I got to sponge her down instead of grooming her. It was neat.  I had Spanish today. We are learning the days of the week Lunes, Martes, Miercoles, Jueves, Viernes, Sabado, Domingo. It is a lot of fun. Adios, Anna-Lee Here a few pho...

Tequila

Image
Hello, I went riding yesterday and since it was such a nice day here I rode outside! I liked it outside because it was calm and peaceful except when a car or school bus went past. The ring was twice the size of the arena so at first I did smaller circles. By the end I was going around the whole sand ring. Between  the wind and the traffic it was a good thing I didn't start outside on Ellie Mae. She wold have probably jumped the fence back to her paddock! I also got a new horse yesterday. Her name is Tequila. Tequila is an Appaloosa horse who is harder to control because she's so big compared to Ellie Mae. .Tequila felt very slow compared to Ellie Mae who was a pony. Ponies like Ellie Mae take quick little baby steps  move fast. Ellie Mae  also responds to my commands immediately.  To get used to Tequila we mostly worked on transitions moving quickly from  Halt to Trot, to walk and back again. One funny thing about Tequila is that she makes funny faces! She ...
